'Landart' is a term for perishable art performed directly in nature. Artists who do this often repeat the same action in with slight variations. Stones, twigs, leaves, imprints in sand and snow that are composed together into a whole, into a picture. In my 'sand and rock pictures' I use rocks I have accumulated over time in the area where I live, along with sand from the beach right outside the house I live. My little "sandbox" gives me an intuitive and meditative ritual that creates meaning in me. I think of the act as a thanksgiving, a little prayer that nature and the earth will heal again.
